Reach out
It can be scary and emotional, but it's usually a case of "fear of the unknown". But that's the only bit you need to do, on your own, in order to find help. For the rest of your journey we will be together. Sometimes people feel more at ease by talking with a counsellor over the phone, in the first instance, rather than emailing them. I know I did. However, if you'd prefer to email rather than call me, just click the link below and it'll take you to my contact page. However, my mobile number is 07989 945323. Please feel free to leave me a message and I will get back to you with in 48 hours. Please can you state whether or not it's OK to leave a message too. I look forward to hearing from you.
Can't see the wood for the trees?
Our first meeting is an opportunity for us to have an open discussion, guided by a series of questions ranging from a general description of your problems and concerns, to what impact are they having on your life. We will also take a look at your current life style and any support networks you might have. At this stage it is also very important to give some consideration as to what it is you want to acheive from counselling and we can discuss whether short, medium or long term counselling is best for you. I will also tell you more about myself and how I work and this will be an oportunity for us to familiarise ourselves with eachother to see how we feel. I allocate between 60 to 90 minutes for our initial meeting.
The Tree of Life
Although your first counselling session might seem quite scary it may help you to consider it as your fresh start on life; positive energy, good mental health and a happier future. You have started your journey towards growth and strength. We will take the time to recap on what it is you want to acheive from counselling and make any changes where you see fit. (From time to time we will review your counselling goals to make sure we are keeping on track.) It is now time for me to hand over to you. But don't be afraid. I will be right by your side each and every week. I will be the constant who will listen and not judge you. This is your time. This is your safe space. Each counselling session lasts 50 minutes with an extra 10 minutes to ‘wind down’. It is important that when your weekly session finishes you feel in a ‘safe place‘ to continue with your day.
